ABOUT ADA

For all that is best in dance!

The Australasian Dance Association (ADA) was formerly known as FATD. FATD was founded in 1931 and is the longest established dance organisation in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2014, the Theatrical Dance branch separated from the Ballroom branch and became the Australasian Dance Association Ltd (ADA). Our history is very dear to our hearts and will always remain a part of everyone that has been associated with the society.

Our content remains current and continues to move forward with the ever-changing and evolving dance world. ADA specialises in the teaching of Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, AcroDance, Contemporary and a Preschool Program here in Australia and overseas.

ADA currently has a membership of teachers in excess of 600. Each year the Australasian Dance Association (ADA) holds annual Dance Awards for students to showcase their syllabus/examination work. Every three years we host Championships allowing dance studios to highlight group routines, solos, duos and trios across different genres, as well as Master Classes held by industry professionals.

We are proud to offer our Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, AcroDance and Contemporary Syllabi to many dance studios, guiding and supporting them as they strive towards successful yearly examinations. These are held all over Australia and internationally, and are examined by highly qualified, certified ADA examiners.
